Topic: Joomla won't connect to my MySQL database

I'm trying to access http://localhost/joomla/

but i get the error message: Database Error: Unable to connect to the database:Could not connect to MySQL

I have phpmyadmin working, and my mysql is running just fine.
Do i have to do anything prior that trying to access the root folder for joomla? Configuration of some sort? I thought accessing this root folder would run the installation and setup automatically?

Please help.!

Hey, I've got a solution:

the mysql was the error in my case
in www\joomla is a file named configuration where you can set all the configuration details for joomla.
There i had to set the root-mysql-password manually, default is set to no password.

Good Luck

PS: In the OptionsMenu of MoWeS you can set the root password of the mysql server but this is only a setting of MoWeS, it will not change the mysql server password itself.
So if you change your root-password in mysql, remeber to set it in MoWeS to the new Value


This solution works for other Applicationpackages and config files as well
